Still have questions about Yoga Therapy?

Here are some answers for you…

  • What makes yoga therapy different to a traditional yoga practice, is instead of me simply teaching you different yoga techniques and poses, our 1:1 sessions are created to serve and support you on your own personal health journey. Whatever you might be dealing with, you’re given guidance on how to improve your overall well-being from a whole body-mind-spirit perspective.

  • There are so many! Yoga therapy may help reduce anxiety and depression, which so often come along with a cancer diagnosis. You may not be getting good sleep - either from the medication you’re on or from staying awake worrying - or both!  Yoga therapy could help with this, too. And by reducing the effects of your anxiety, depression, and helping you get a good night’s rest, you may find you begin to heal more quickly.

Yoga therapy may also be used to reduce pain and inflammation, which has a knock-on effect. When you’re in less pain - or know exactly which poses to do when you have a flare up - you’re able to get on with your day.

  • Adding yoga therapy to your current cancer treatment plan is a great way to give yourself even more support as you battle The Big C. What’s great about yoga therapy is it works wonderfully in tandem with whatever conventional treatments you may already be undergoing.

  • Absolutely. There are actually several poses, breathing techniques, and meditations I can show you that may help minimise the effects of chemotherapy. My experience working as an oncology nurse also comes in handy here - I’ve got plenty of tips and tricks up my sleeve to support you!

  • No problem at all. Most people think “yoga” and immediately envision the most complex back-bend or headstand! This isn’t what yoga therapy is about at all. Wherever you are in your journey, and no matter your physical limitations - yoga therapy may help. I’ve worked with clients who have just had surgery - there are techniques and meditations we do that help with whatever you’re currently experiencing. And believe me, you do not have to be super flexible. You just need to come along to your session with an open mind.

  • Yes! Yoga therapy works wonders for all sorts of conditions, not only cancer. For example, it may be used to treat:

    Stress

    Depression

    Anxiety

    Postnatal depression

    Chronic back pain

    Musculoskeletal conditions

    Parkinson’s Disease

    Asthma

    COPD

    MS

    IBS

    Heart Disease

…to name a few. If you’re curious about yoga therapy, reach out. I’d be glad to support you.
